Grandmaster Jang is the founder of Jang's Taekwondo. He started taekwondo in 1960, and recently received his 9th degree. He came to the United States in 1980, and was a volunteer at many recreational centers. In 1985, he started Jang's Taekwondo, and has taught thousands of students. He has earned a degree in Teaching. He is also currently a Vice President of The United States Taekwondo Grandmasters Society.
Master Choi has done taekwondo for most of his life. Winning the Gold Medal in 1982 2nd Jr. Olympic Taekwondo Championships as "Yong Jin Choi" in lightweight division also qualifying for the 1988 Seoul Olympics. He started learning martial arts at the age of 5 with his Brother's (Y.W, Y.D, Y.S, Y.J Choi). When he turned 16, he started his own business and had to learn how to operate it. Then, after college, he went on to open another business where he continued to teach everyone the arts of Taekwondo. Eventually, he moved to Maryland with his family, and now is an Instructor at Jang's Taekwondo. He hopes to inspire children to learn taekwondo and pursue their dreams. In addition, he is a pastor at the New Beginning Community Church in Silver Spring.
Instructor Colin has done Taekwondo and other martial arts all of his life. Growing up he learned the importance of leading, teaching, and coaching others how to guide and be a helping hand for others. Under the lineage of the Choi Brother’s (Y.W, Y.D, Y.S, Y.J Choi). Master Colin has a goal to grow others in the midst of struggle and help them understand their life and struggles in the form of martial arts and self improvement.
Assistant Instructor Yuvan has been doing Taekwondo for over 5 years, and is now a volunteer assistant instructor. He learned a lot under the leadership of Grandmaster Jang, Master Choi, and Instructor Colin which he hopes to share with others. Taekwondo has helped him grow in many ways mentally and physically. He aims to help students learn the important values of Taekwondo and what it has to offer.
Assistant Instructor Reetu has been doing Taekwondo for over 5 years, and has shown significant growth. Like her brother, she is also a volunteer assistant Instructor. She challenges herself every day, and has goals to become the best at what she does. She wants to help everyone grow in Taekwondo while having fun in this activity which has taught her so much.
Assistant instructor Kevin has done taekwondo for almost 3 years and is still on the road to improvement. While under the Jang’s Taekwondo family, Kevin was taught discipline and leadership skill and teaches others these same skills. His goal is to follow the example lead by his masters and instructors, and to improve on his training and being a better person
